Pour it up for Duck

There has certainly been a lot of really great humans passing away lately (which is the case everyday I suppose). Typically, when someone great passes away, the blogosphere tends to provide ample coverage of their death and more importantly their life. I have passed up multiple posts like these in the recent past. Maybe it was because I didn't feel that I needed to add what was already being said a million times in a million different places. Maybe it was because I didn't grow up with these idols but merely found them later in life.

However, yesterday, a real hero of mine growing up passed away, Kevin "The Duck" Duckworth. When I was a kid I used to shoot around in my driveway, I would pretend to be Clyde Drexler, with an imaginary Duckworth grabbing all my missed shots, telling me to keep practicing. It is times like that I wish I could relive, but unfortunately, I just keep getting further away from them. But, not in my head...

R.I.P. Duck. See you on the courts.

Few things get me more angry then when people do fucked up shit to animals. So when I saw this video I was surprised to feel a similar flare of resentment. Isn't it just as bad to torture A.I. as it is animals? I am sure many will retort with "but it doesn't feel anything!" But, isn't that the same excuse that those who hurt animals use? or plants for that matter? Why does it matter if it felt anything? Why do people feel like they have to fuck with things?

I hope one day humans finally figure it out. Finally understand everything like they know their timetables. I really think it'll happen one day. But, we definitely got a long way to go. Why is no one talking about that?

The Future Leaders of America

Happy Birthday to Barack and myself (8/4/61 and 8/4/84 respectively). Now, who is the young, handsome, heartthrob in the nice* suit?

Just foolin' Mr. Obama, it is still you!

*my nice suit is really a lion costume.

Juanita The Bike DeHut
5-20-2008 to 7-30-2008

I know it is just a bike, but I am pretty heartbroken. I built it from absolute scratch with my bare hands. It took a really long time to do, but when it was finally finished, it was the best looking/feeling bike I thought I'd ever ride.

I never got to tell you bike, but: "I really loved you, even if you weren't human. You really made me happy."

Farewell!

I picture the man holding the T Rex bag with a really wide torso and two horribly disproportionate feet. He was so frazzled by that mean dog's demands for a "W-A-L-K" (it is slowly learning how to spell in English) he accidentally mixed his shoes up. Whoopsie doodles!

I absolutely love this video. It is directed by That Go, two video artists from Seattle. They made the video for a contest held by the band Thunderheist. This has to be one of the coolest end results from any UGC contest ever. Great work guys!

Coincidentally, I filmed a bit of their concert and put it in the beginning of this.

It's Shark Week!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

It took me awhile to get used to Los Angeles, it took me even longer to get used to my room. For months it had been a drab box, but I finally put some life into it. As you can see, it was designed by an 8-year-old.

Hey, check out the new video from my main homies Gray Matters. The song is called Pardon Me featuring 2 time World Rap Champion Illmaculate.

Gray Matters will be dropping their first album this Saturday. If you live in the Portland area I suggest you check out the release party/concert at the Hawthorne Theater. It is going to be a great show.

(I figured I'd throw this battle in for good measure: here)

I have no idea how long it has been since I last picked up an issue of Vice Magazine, but it has definitely been a long time. I stopped reading it around the time I felt the quality of the DOs & DON'Ts section started slipping (I'm sure there is a correlation here). When I checked out their site a day ago I was pleasantly surprised with some good LOLs over these:

DON'T #1
DON'T #2
DON'T #3
